Harnessing the healing properties of Hungary’s thermal waters, Omorovicza’s skincare products are known worldwide for their nourishing properties. We speak to Margaret de Heinrich, co-founder of Omorovicza on the story behind their success and what sets their skincare apart from other brands.
Let’s start at the beginning, when and how did Omorovicza start?
Omorovicza officially began in Budapest 14 years ago after Stephen (co-founder) and I met and were inspired by the Budapest curative culture and the transformative powers of the mineral-rich thermal waters. Once we discovered and patented a method to capture the magic of these healing waters, we decided to launch Omorovicza.
What makes Omorovicza as a skincare brand different?
Our patented Healing Concentrate is truly unique as it captures the magic and transformational powers of the mineral-rich thermal waters.
Is there a story behind the name “Omorovicza”? How did you decide that it was the right name?
Omorovicza (o-more-o-veet-sa) is part of my husband’s family name–and it is the name of a town given to his family many many moons ago by the Austro-Hungarian emperor for their contribution to the country.
Can you tell us more about the science behind Hungary’s healing waters and the importance of it to the brand?
We have patented a process to capture the transformative power of the healing waters in skincare, which is called the Healing Concentrate. This patented process uses bio-fermentation to change the cellular composition of the minerals found in the waters so that they are absorbed into the skin in their most potent form. This can be found in almost all our products.
What inspires you as a skincare creator? What is the inspiration for your range?
People exceeding their expectations of beauty is incredibly inspiring. When we are developing products, we’re inspired either by a new, innovative ingredient or a particular skin concern we are grappling with and need addressing.
What is your personal skincare philosophy?
Beauty is a decision–anyone can be beautiful.
What’s the best beauty or skincare advice you ever received?
Beauty is not a miracle–it does not just happen. You need the discipline to exceed your expectations.
What products from the line do you use religiously?
I change my skincare routine regularly, either due to a skin concern or a change in seasons. These days, in the morning, I use our Cleansing Foam, Acid Solution, Daily Vitamin C, and Elemental Emulsion. In the evening, I double cleanse using our Thermal Cleansing Balm and Cleansing Foam, Acid Solution again along with our new Amazing Midnight Renewal Serum and Rejuvenating Night Cream.
For someone who is new to the brand, what’s on your recommendation list?
It really depends on the condition of your skin and what your main concern is. If you’re suffering from acne, try our Ultra Moor Mud Mask or Silver Skin Savior. If hyperpigmentation is an issue, try our Acid Fix or Midnight Radiance Mask. For those who are fighting fine lines and wrinkles, try our Midnight Renewal Serum and Blue Diamond Concentrate.
Omorovicza Midnight Renewal Serum
Omorovicza just launched the Midnight Renewal Serum, how should we use this serum for the best results?
Use it during the evening, after you have double cleansed. Afterward, apply a moisturizer on top of the layer of the serum if your skin is dry.
2020 and 2021 have seen a huge rise in daily mask-wearing. Some are complaining of small breakouts or even some irritation, do you have any recommendations on how to combat this? Or what products could help?
Any of our products using Moor Mud are amazing. Our Deep Cleansing Mud Mask, Ultra Moor Mud Mask, Moor Cream Cleanser, Thermal Cleansing Balm plus Refining Facial Polisher are all superb. The Silver range is also amazing especially for more mature skin.
